Planting in our greenhouse begins at the end of May. Accordingly, our production continues from August until the end of May the following year. Our geothermal wells allow us to produce an average of 700 tons from November to February, even in harsh winter conditions.
Thanks to the Hoogendoorn automation systems we use, the management of climate, water and the nutrients the plants need is carried out automatically in the required amounts, preventing the waste of natural resources. Our automation systems enable controlled feeding of the plants and help avoid the harmful effects that could arise from the excessive uptake of certain elements. Instead of soil, production uses a 100% organic material called “cocopeat,” obtained by pressing coconut husks. Thanks to cocopeat, the risk of soil-borne diseases drops to zero and it contains no lime. The Bombus bees we use in our greenhouse make the use of any chemical pesticides and/or hormones unnecessary.
